Synthesis of Mn(II) Complexes-Carboxymethyl Chitosan Schiff Base Salicylaldehyde and Antibacterial Activity

The development of compounds with a better antibacterial activity is highly needed. One way to achieve this by modifying the structure compound using chitosan as starting material, because its abundant natural source in Indonesia, biodegradable properties, and where free amines are present. This study aims obtain Mn(II) -Carboxymethyl Chitosan Schiff Base-Salicylaldehyde complex increase against Staphylococcus aureus (Gram positive) Escherichia coli negative).
